Regional Sports Meet

The KVS has structured the school activities in such a manner as to ensure an all-round development of the students instead of confining to mental development through lessons in the class room. Adequate opportunities are provided to the students to take part in games and a variety of other co-curricular activities. This helps the students develop a healthy spirit of sportsmanship and companionship, which will enable them face the life with ease. This will also help them develop physically, aesthetically and morally.

Physical and health education are an integral part of the academics. The students are encouraged to participate in sports activities at different levels, namely (a) within a Vidyalaya between different “Houses” into which the students are divided; (b) between two or more Vidyalayas at the cluster level’ (c) between clusters at the regional level and (d) between region at the national level. The objectives are :

• To develop the physical faculties of the students.         
• To ensure mass participation of the students.
• To spot out talent and nurture it; and  
• To develop spirit of sportsmanship and leadership qualities. 

The National level KVS Sports meets are also availed of to select the KVS teams for the National (Inter-State) Sports meets organized by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI). The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has been accorded the status of a State for participation in these meets. 

KVS NATIONAL SPORTS MEET 

The KVS National Sports Meet-2006  was hosted by Mumbai  Region w.e.f. 04-10-2006 to  12-10-2006.  The Sports meet was conducted on Inter-Region,Tournament basis.  Prior to participation in KVS National Meet, Inter-KV, Tournaments were organized at Regional level and the winner teams in the regions in each game participated in the KVS National Sports Meet.

SGFI Meet 

Apart from the above competitions, KVS teams, selected during KVS National Meet are deputed for participation in the Inter-State Sports meets organized by the School Games Federation of India.  The games in which KVS teams participate are – Athletics, Swimming Hockey, Football, Cricket, Table-Tennis, Badmintion, Handball, Basketball, Volleyball, Kho-Kho and Kabaddi. 

SPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS

SPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS FOR STUDENTS. 

KVS declared following Sports Scholarships & Awards for students for the promotion and Games & Sports in Kendriya Vidyalayas. 

Cash Awards:

a)                 For athletics and swimming, cash awards of Rs.2000/-, Rs.1500/- and Rs.1000/- for first three place winners will be given only to those students who break the previous year’s records.

b)                 For team games, each member of the regional teams will be awarded cash prize of Rs.250/- Rs.150/- and Rs.100/- for winning the first three places, respectively, in the KVS National Meet. These awards will be given out of Regional Sports Control Board funds.

c)                 All those students who win gold, silver and bronze medals in the SGFI Table Tennis.  Tennis, Badminton, Athletics and Swimming Meets will be awarded on time cash scholarship of Rs.6,000/-, Rs.4,000/- and Rs.2,000/-, respectively.
