STRENGTHENING OF CLASS-ROOM LIBRARY AND MAIN LIBRARY:

The love for reading books is by and large found to be receding alarmingly due to several factors and the library of the school is becoming more  of a visitor’s attraction than a functional sub system of the school system.  How to inculcate the love for reading in the children and how to make the school library vibrant needs to be discussed.

Besides encouraging the children to read books Kendriya Vidyalayas curriculum  also make the book reading exercise a part of our project and assignment and to make books easily available to children class-room libraries are set up in the schools. Suggestions are invited from students and parents about their requirement of books and purchases are made accordingly.

Each Vidyalaya is expected to make full use of the school library.  Children observe the rules of the library reading room as enforced from time to time. Children also write book reviews on the books they have read.

 PROFESSIONAL DEVLOPMENT OF TEACHERS :

The national policy on education 1986 stipulates, “system of teacher evaluation open, participative and data based will be created and norms of accountability will be laid down”.  It implies that teacher assessment or appraisal is an instrument that should facilitate professional accountability and hence any discussion in this area should be firmly routed in the premises that performance appraisal is not an end in itself but a means to achieve a higher purpose than that of according promotions and bestowing awards.

Competencies and teaching of both languages, self analysis and acceptance of weakness and steps taken up for the improvement of these areas are regularly taken care of in Kendriya Vidyalayas. To fulfil the motto teachers are constantly updated and improve themselves Inservice courses become a catalyst for constructive and explorative approach towards efficiency in education.
